言語交換会 Language Exchange by HEROES' Cafe第59回を開催しました。
Hi, everyone.
I organized a language exchange meetup in Tokyo last Saturday.
The theme was “Is making new year's resolutions an act of futility?” I thought it was a little challenging, or even thought-provoking.
Earlier this year, I made and posted a few new year's resolutions as follows.
1. I've been studying English in past years and I'll add German to the routine.
2. I'll regain my health.
3. I want to be a more creative person.
I've been making efforts towards achievement first 2 resolutions as I exercise for 30 minutes almost everyday and I sometimes study German after English at the time.
The last one's the hardest. I asked one of the participants who was an Assistant Director for movies on how one could enhance his creativity. His answer was “Keep creating. That's all.”
I know, right?
Almost all of the participants constantly have things that they want to do, so they don't even bother to make new year's resolutions on New Year's Day.
Could we thus reckon that making New Year's resolutions is an act of futility?

今回のテーマは「新年の抱負を立てることに意味はあるのか？」という、ちょっと挑戦的、反逆的なテーマでした。
最近はあまりいないのかな、改めて新年の抱負を立てる人って。
前にも書きましたが、今年は3つの新年の抱負を立てました。
1. 英語学習のルーティンにドイツ語を加えること。
2. 健康的な身体を取り戻すこと。
3. よりクリエイティブな人間になること。
立てただけじゃそれこそ意味が無いので、ちゃんと実現するために30分の運動を（ほぼ）毎日するようにしています。
ドイツ語は…その日の英語の課題が終わったらやってます😅
しかし、よりクリエイティブになるって、難しいです。
今回来てくれた参加者の中に映画のアシスタントディレクターをされていた方がいらっしゃっていたので聞いてみたんですが、「とにかく毎日、シナリオを書く、書き続けることだ」と仰っていました。
たしかに。
参加者の皆さんはそれぞれ、
ずっとやりたいことを続けている
その時その時でしたいことをしている
といった感じで、あえて新年の抱負は立てないとか。
やはり、新年の抱負を立てることは、無意味？
